There is a trend in the Notes section of the Substack app to show off our bookshelves. I talk briefly about why my books are pared way down from what we owned three years ago and share some of my favourites. Because only the favourites survived the move.
Could I have gone on? Hmm, maybe? What would you have liked to see and hear about of my bookshelves? I might do another one if there is interest.
Will I go live again? Probably? Possibly? Join me for my next live video in the app:
It’s a day early for the Monthly Digest but I am trying to keep your inboxes to a minimum so let’s take a look the month that was January.
Well, first, I got influenza, so my writing slowed way way down as mucus stopped up my brain and I’m grateful I don’t have an episode of Hiraeth to write because I’d be really really stressed right now.

What’s Ahead in February?
In A River Trembles this month, we have reached a low point in the story. If you haven’t kept up, I won’t spoil it but, gosh, generally speaking, things aren’t going well. Wow, can I be any more vague?
I’ll finally share my research rabbit hole about sea-rice — I know I’ve been promising it for a while — but I think it’ll finally make it out of my drafts folder … and I’ll be picking up the “Too Many Book Ideas” piece above and talking about what to do when you want to follow that new shiny book idea. Or at least, a thing you could do. Your mileage may vary, as usual.
Writing-wise, my plan is to switch my focus from A Sword for Wellington and finish Obsidian and Flame. The characters have subsided a little bit, which I think means they’ve accepted their fate? But who knows once I re-engage with them. They’ve taken this little six-part series and turned it into an 18-part series and we’re not done yet. With luck, I’ll be able to return to A Sword for Wellington before the end of the month.
