I'm exhausted just reading this! LOL! We multi-passionates are cursed. But, yes, mindless scrolling is my focus for elimination this year. I ditched FB in 2021, but there's all these great art videos on YouTube... Funny, watching those doesn't get my own work done!
I leave YouTube until the evening when my brain is done with writing. Mornings are my problem. And yes, but being multipassionate is a curse worth having, imho!
Yes, first thing in the morning annoys me the most. I tell myself I'm just trying to wake up, but way too much time passes before a lock in to my real work. Argh.
All the ideas stacked up...I feel that. I made the executive decision to remove all social apps from my phone, and it freed me in a lot of ways. The temptation to use them on my laptop persists but at least I have an open Google Doc in front of me the switch to easily...next step is to delete them, at least Instagram, to stop the useless scrolling. The dopamine from writing a great scene takes longer to get but feels way better and lasts longer. And I'm like you. Stories get written on walks, almost exclusively, especially when it's too cold for my fingers to think about texting! ❄️❄️❄️
I am weaning myself off the social media, or at least, that’s what I’m telling myself. When I’m writing, I’m pretty good at not scrolling, even if I take a break for research, which I also usually set aside for another time unless I have a hunch it’ll seriously derail things. But yeah, definitely removing the apps is the next step. I love how walks are where your stories get written!
I have the same problem from time to time. All the story ideas come at once. I can't say I've been good about balancing them, though. Good luck to you.
Wow that’s a pretty full on schedule. Are you trying to work on all of these projects at once or is it a list that you’re slowly working through?
I definitely find ideas come in groups. Semi recently I’ve really forced myself to take a step back and only work on one big project at a time, with a limited number of smaller projects floating around it. Last year I was kind of driving myself crazy with the amount of different things I was trying to work on at the same time.
Yeah, I am trying not to drive myself crazy and work on them one at a time. That’s why Hiraeth has been paused, and at the moment I am trying the experiment of one month working on A Sword for Wellington (and the wheels have already dropped off that because I have the flu) and next month on Obsidian and Flame (which for once is biding its turn).

Yup! Speaking of … *backs away from the iPad slowly*
Haha! I forget you're on that other side of the world!
Love your passion! You’re going to have a busy year! Can’t wait to see and read all these projects.
It keeps me out of trouble, as they say.
I hear you! I have so many stories waiting to be written, including 2 full-length novel first drafts waiting for editing 😅😅😅
I feel like we might need a support group. Or SE Reid’s Imp. Not that I’m sure I want to go that far… A retreat in the woods would be lovely though.
