July is Almost Over
What you might have missed this month (July) at The Môrdreigiau Chronicles
If this is among the first posts you’ve received from me (outside of the welcome email—go check that, it has a delightful catch-up freebie for you), welcome!
Most of the stories here are within the same world, involving shape-shifting sea dragons, occasional deities, and searches for Arthurian treasures. Most of which is set during the English Regency period, but there are some pure dreigiau môr (sea dragon) stories that take place in earlier time periods. It’s on my to do list to throw together a time line for all of them, but you can read them in any order.
The shorter stand-alone serials are Selene’s Vow, Hiraeth, and Obsidian & Flame. You can find them in the index linked at the foot of this post.
Saturdays are when the main serial is posted (in Australian time), Wednesdays are usually my bonus posting day with short stories etc, and this digestible I try to post on the last day of the month and is where I share everything that I posted both here and over on YouTube in the month of June.
I was interviewed over at the Indie Ink Fund by Jenifer Jorgenson. She had such lovely things to say about my work (and also you get to know a little more about me the writer in the interview.)
Fiction Released
A Shattering of Souls
The fourth and final season of The Môrdreigiau Chronicles continues (don’t worry, there’s more planned).
Here are the chapters posted thus far for A Shattering of Souls:
Be sure to check out the bonus material:
Dr. Pelletier’s Ship’s Log (updated) and Eidothea’s Scrapbook here and here.
Other Fiction
This month I ended up writing another entry in The Moonstone Files, this time involving our beloved Panawr from Obsidian and Flame. I also finally wrote a short story for Bradley Ramsey ‘s Power Up Prompts, about the only person on the planet who isn’t in a true love match, and what happens when they meet the goddess who Made It So.
One of my favourite writers on Substack, Kummer Wolfe, has started a new season of his serial for our Upon Our Seas, In Our Skies collaboration, featuring Dr. Rebekah Verity Thorne, called “Death’s Compass”:
Non-Fiction (Behind the Curtain)
The YouTube videos in July were a mix of writing vlogs and other writerly thoughts. The last one has some humpback whale footage!
What’s Ahead in August?
I am deep in writing this Arthurian prequel. I love these characters so much. I’ve been sitting in the library quietly cracking myself up at their antics and some of the stuff is just On Fire, and I haven’t even got to the kissing stuff yet. (It was a second chance romance but somehow I’ve ended up writing the whole romance from the first meeting onwards.)
There’s a writing challenge starting in August that involves dragons. I can’t say no to that with my particular brand of sea dragons, dreigiau môr, can I? The novel’s not finished yet, so I don’t know how many of these I will get done (nor how many may end up as fodder for the next season of Obsidian and Flame or continuing Ardwyad’s and Branwen’s story (The Stars Were Bright)).
Chapters of A Shattering of Souls will continue weekly.
New to The Môrdreigiau Chronicles?
Subscribers receive the first two seasons of the serial in their welcome email. But there are also shorter serials and short stories to explore. For a total immersion into the dreigiau môr (sea dragon) world, Obsidian and Flame, a 20 part serial might be a fun place to start!
Or you can check out everything here:
Did you know you can subscribe for free and get the first two books/seasons as an EPUB/PDF?
