How to participate

Simply send the link in a text, email, or share it on social media with friends. (Psst, you will also need a Substack account.) I’ll have some sample links below to share.

2. Earn benefits. When more friends use your referral link to subscribe, you’ll receive special benefits.

• Get a thank you email for 3 referrals

• Get another thank you email and a shout out in a post (first name and surname initial) for 5 referrals

• But wait, there’s more! The thank you email you receive at the third level is super-gushy, you’ll get a shout out, plus a character will be named after you (see below for conditions) for 25 referrals!

Name a character after you?

Yup, you read that right. I’ll add your name into an instalment soon after you achieve this milestone. A couple of things to note: it’s possible I’ll either have to Anglicise your name, or convert to Welsh or Greek (which means you’ll probably get to be a sea dragon!) in order to remain consistent with these diaries, so we’ll need to have a conversation about that via email or chat. There are a number of people who are described by their role instead of their name, so I see no harm in adding your name there! (Should you achieve this goal.)
