Before we look at what happened in April, May is going to be full of exciting things!
What’s Ahead in May?
A River Trembles finishes up mid-month! Is book two close to ready? No. It’s in the early editing phase at time of writing. But never fear, Obsidian & Flame, the shiny idea that would not go away, comes to the rescue. Hopefully, you will fall in love with these impossible characters too.
I mean, we have a sea dragon prince with a deadly secret and a woman who swore she’d never marry into the dreigiau môr royal family. You already know where that’s headed, right? Plus we have an absent Goddess and a caer to save.
Yes, I’m struggling with writing the blurb. Just know I love these characters, put them through hell, and had the prince begging me for mercy.
Obsidian & Flame is a prequel to A Grail for Eidothea and occurs after The Prophet and the Cupbearer. You also met our two leads as children in the short story Against Destiny. Which, when O&F opens, they have completely forgotten about.
When A Sword for Wellington (book 3) is ready, Obsidian & Flame will switch to Wednesdays, as I don’t want to leave you hanging. I expect that to happen in June.
Behind the Curtain Story
Spoilers ahoy for Chapter 36, “The Eye Has It” from A River Trembles. Skip down to “Fiction Released in April” if you haven’t read it yet and don’t want to know.

I finished writing about Eidothea’s magical eye and thought … wait a minute, where have I seen that before?
In 2018, I set myself the task of 52 Portraits in 52 Weeks. This was one of them:
Can you see that eye? More importantly, can you see that there’s writing buried in her hair? I have absolutely no idea what it says, only that this was back at a time when I told vignettes, wrote them down on paper and painted over them. I’m guessing from the bow she carries, that she’s probably Artemis.
But, that eye! All goes to show that story seeds can come from anywhere, even seven years ago! Well, it blew my mind when I realised.

Yup, I’m going to be talking about the writing process on YouTube, specifically for how I plan to wrap things up in book 4. I’m planning on weekly-ish but I also don’t want to bombard you with too many emails, so you can head over there and subscribe, but I’ll also share when it goes live in our subscriber chat (on the app/website) as well as in these digests.
