The Môrdreigiau Chronicles is my transcription of diaries, journals, research notes that I found in a trunk in my art studio’s attic.
If you want to stay in this worldview, skip down to the section on modifying your settings under “How to Get What You Want and Need”. You’ll want to uncheck “Behind the Curtain” and “TMC Monthy Digest” and I shall say no more about it.
Behind the Curtain…
I’ve been calling some of my posts “Behind the Scenes”, which in effect pulls back the curtain on what this actually is … me rediscovering the joy of writing about characters who go on adventures and fall in love. This was fine before I started sharing these journals, but now … now it’s a bit awkward.
I have been sharing some things in the Chat part of the Substack app, but so many of you read via email only that you haven’t seen these. Starting next month (so you have time to update your email settings), I will send short posts, about once a month on a Wednesday regarding the research rabbit holes, etc, that I’ve talked about there, along with new material.
Substack enables me to divvy up my content so you can receive the content you want. “Behind the Curtain” will be one of these sections.
Monthly Digest
I’m kinda assuming you’d like to be here for all of it, but that means more emails coming your way. Along with Saturday’s “transcribed” installments, on Wednesdays you’ll receive a short story or a “Behind the Curtain” post (or nothing at all).
A monthly digest is just the ticket if you want to keep your inbox at a manageable minimum but still want to keep up, or if you want to take a peek at what’s happening in a section you may not be subscribed to.
You have been automatically subscribed to the three sections of this newsletter:
The Môrdreigiau Chronicles (all the fiction, whether it’s by me or “transcribed”)
Behind The Curtain (those behind the scenes posts talking about the writing process, inspiration, research rabbit holes, probably K-Drama tropes, links to YouTube videos about the journal creations, etc etc)
TMC Monthly Digest (a monthly post that has all the links to what’s been written that month, both fiction and non-fiction)
Rough Posting Schedule
Every Saturday, an instalment from the current novel of The Môrdreigiau Chronicles.
First Wednesday of the month, a new Hiraeth instalment.
Second Wednesday of the month, a Behind the Curtain post (this may creep up to twice a month).
Other Wednesdays, may post an additional short story from The Red Book of Rhiannon (in the first year of the Chronicles, only two have been posted so far, it will not be a frequent occurrence).
Last day of the month, the TMC Monthly Digest.
Note that these are all Australian days, you might be receiving these a day early, depending on where you are in the world. My posting time is 7:00 am, Australian Eastern time.
How to Get What You Want and Need
To control what you receive, there are two ways.
First, the App. Download the Substack app onto your mobile device of choice, choose to have all my posts sent to the app instead of your inbox. (Check out how to here.)
Alternate Way Especially for Journals and Diaries Only Readers
Go to https://projectstarfish.substack.com/account and you can check and uncheck boxes to your heart’s delight. You may need to login or set up an account if you didn’t when subscribing to my newsletter.
If you really don’t want to see behind the curtain, not even a little sneaky peek, you will need to go uncheck “Behind the Curtain” and “Monthly Digest” right now because you have been subscribed to these sections. Need help? Send me an email and I’ll walk you through it. All done? Stop reading here, do not let me unsettle your whimsy any further! I’m so glad you’re here to enjoy my transcriptions of Eidothea’s journals.
For everyone else, I recommend keeping “TMC Monthly Digest” checked just in case there is something that piques your interest in one or the other (like a particular rabbit research hole) unless you really REALLY do not want to see behind the curtain.
All good? Any questions? Need help? I unfortunately cannot edit your subscription preferences for you but am happy to walk you through step by step. Just reply to this email and let me know where you’re getting stuck.
I will, of course, read everything, including the background stuff.
